During the workshop we will discuss how to:
We’ll talk about how you can make reading FUN for you and your students! We will discuss why engagement is the number one thing you should consider when planning your reading lessons, and how you can keep your students engaged and motivated week after week.
Our reading block should be set up and structured in a way that gives students maximum involvement in the reading process. We will discuss how to create a student-centered reading block that has less teacher talk and more student ownership.
Finally, we want to make sure students can transfer the skills and strategies we teach to their own independent reading. No matter what type of texts your students like to read, learn how to teach reading in a way that will help students feel like confident and successful readers.
In addition to all the strategies you'll learn during the workshop, I'll also be sharing my Reading Workshop Launch Guide with everyone who attends the training. In this teacher guide, not only will you discover how to get started with reading workshop, but you'll also get scripted lesson plans for your first three weeks of instruction.
